J. C. ENTERED ST. JOE PREP IN 1954 AND GRADUATED IN THE CLASS OF 1958. HE ENROLLED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY WITH A FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIP. HE GRADUATED FROM U OF K WITH A BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN BUSINESS. HE ALSO RECEIVED A ROTC COMMISSION AS SECOND LIEUTENANT IN THE U. S. ARMY. AFTER GRADUATION, HE SERVED TWO YEARS IN THE REGULAR ARMY STATIONED IN ANCHORAGE, ALASKA. LEFT ACTIVE DUTY AS A CAPTAIN AND THEN SERVED IN THE U. S. ARMY RESERVES FOR THE NEXT 26 YEARS IN UNITS LOCATED IN LOUISVILLE, LEXINGTON KENTUCKY AND KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE. J.C. RETIRED IN 192 AS A LT. COLONEL. IN 1965, HE WORKED FOR GENERAL ELECTRIC MAJOR APPLIANCE DIVISION IN CONTRACT SALES IN KENTUCKY AND TENNESSEE. HE LATER MOVED TO KENTUCKY UTILITIES AS AN INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT REPRESENTATIVE WHICH BROUGHT HIM BACK TO KENTUCKY, HIS BANKING CAREER STARTED WITH UNITED BANK & TRUST COMPANY AS AN ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT. IN 1985 HE WAS ELECTED PRESIDENT AND BOARD MEMBER MOVING TO UNITED BANK'S CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICE IN 1986. HE RETIRED FROM BANKING IN 2005. J.C. HAS SERVED ON VARIOUS CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDING WOODFORD COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AS PRESIDENT AND DIRECTOR, ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT KENTUCKY COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS, TREASURER AND CHAIRMAN, WOODFORD COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY AS BOARD MEMBER AND TREASURER, AND THE BLUEGRASS TOMORROW AS A BOARD MEMBER, J.C. IS A MEMBER OF ST. LEO'S CATHOLIC CHURCH IN VERSAILLES. J.C. AND HIS WIFE MARY HAVE TWO DAUGHTERS, ONE SON, ONE STEP-SON, AND A STEP-DAUGHTER, AND 11 GRANDCHILDREN RANGING IN AGES FROM 2 YEARS TO 17 YEARS OLD. J.C. RETIRED ON A WOODFORD COUNTY FARM, S PENDING TIME AS A GENTLEMAN FARMER, VISITING FAMILY MEMBERS AND TRAVELING. |
