Achievements Graduated from St. Joe Prep in June 1945 First class to publish the ASUWAR yearbook and started the tradition of the Abby of Gethsemane retreat. Entered U. S. Army one week later; had his draft notice in his pocket at graduation ceremony. Served 18 months; 1 year in Army of Occupation in Germany Joined the inactive Army Reserve Called to Active Duty February, 1951; same month Bardstown National Guard was activated Achieved lucky assignment to that company; served 6 months and was deactivated. After completing military service in 1946, joined father and 2 brothers in the farming and supply store business. Upon marriage; decided to sell interest in the family farm and business Purchased the Kenmore farm and home in 1955 Elected as Kentucky State Representative in 1965; 2 year term Reelected 2 consecutive terms Member of the Alcoholic control Board as Distilled Sprits Administrator, 1972-1977 with Governor Wndell ford's administration Promoted to Commissioner of Alcoholic Beverage Control Department 1977-1980 with Governor Julian Carroll;s Administration Served in the Existing Industries Division of the Kentucky Commerce Department 1985-1990 Opened Kenmore Farms Bed and Breakfast; hosted guess from the United States, Canada, Argentine, Russia, Germany and Japan 1991-1999 AFFILATIONS The United Way of Nelson County; Charter Board Member St. Joe Prep Alumna President 1953 St. Joseph Parish; Council Member 2 terms President twice; member of the bereavement committee since 2006 Habitat for Humanity; charter member First president Nelson County Fair; member of the board that revived it Hospice of Nelson County; member in it's early years Flaget Hospital Auxiliary ; member and volunteers at admissions desk weekly
